Upcoming Games
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — April 9, 2013 — In anticipation of the July 31 release of Columbia Pictures’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D hybrid live-action/animated family comedy The Smurfs™ 2, today Ubisoft® announced that the company will develop and publish a video game based on the film. Developed by Ubisoft and WayForward, the game will be released as an action-adventure platformer game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Wii™ and Wii U™, as well as an interactive storytelling book and collection of mini-games on Nintendo DS™. It will release on all consoles summer 2013 in Nordics.
The game is based on The Smurfs 2 film and follows up on a highly successful collaboration between Ubisoft and Sony Pictures Consumer Products on The Smurfs™ Dance Party,. That same year, the motion picture The Smurfs took in more than $560 million at the worldwide box office.
The Smurfs 2 video game is an action-packed adventure platformer that provides Smurfs fans of all ages with the opportunity to dive into the magical Smurfs Village and relive iconic moments and key environments from the feature film. Players assume the role of a Smurf and immerse themselves in an interactive adventure through the movie’s enchanting environments including New York City and Paris, and expand their movie experience into worlds exclusive to the video game such as The Arctic Tundra and the The Lava Jungle.
Fans can follow the Smurfs adventure solo or by playing cooperatively with friends. As players progress in the game, they will be able to choose between nine Smurfs featured in the movie and can join each other in a fun multiplayer experience of up to four users playing simultaneously. Exclusive on Wii U, a fifth player will be able to join in on the action by controlling Clockwork Smurf on the Wii U GamePad.
Each Smurf has their own unique special ability to use when navigating through the more than 30 levels in six different worlds. Whether playing as Papa Smurf throwing magic potions to stun the enemies, stomping onto enemies as Grouchy Smurf, or striking a pose as Vanity Smurf to provide a platform for other players to reach hard-to-get items, each move will be used to aid in the battle against enemies such as Azrael, Gargamel the Evil Wizard and Gargamel’s Naughties.
“Aligning ourselves with an industry leader like Ubisoft is a perfect complement to our marketing efforts for the film,” said Mark Caplan, vice president, Sony Pictures Consumer Products. “The game will help bring audiences closer to the magical world of the Smurfs, allowing players to interact and control their own adventures.”
“By collaborating with Sony Pictures on the iconic Smurfs license again we are able to extend the experience from film to immersive gameplay,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing, Ubisoft. “The family-friendly ‘The Smurfs 2’ video game will allow players of all ages to continue the fun and revel in new adventures.”
In The Smurfs 2, Gargamel the Evil Wizard creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world’s greatest sorcerer. It’s up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity to return to our world, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow and rescue her! Will Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, find a new connection with Naughties Vexy and Hackus, or will the Smurfs convince her that their love for her is True Blue? The film is directed by Raja Gosnell and produced by Jordan Kerner. The screenplay is by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss and Jay Scherick & David Ronn and Karey Kirkpatrick with a story by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss & Jay Scherick & David Ronn, based on the characters and works of Peyo.

The game was developed by Runewaker Entertainment, who are known world-wide for their highly successful fantasy MMO “Runes of Magic”. The online game is to be released in 2013, initially in German, English, and French.
Dragon’s Prophet and its world Auratia were developed according to western MMORPG standards, and will treat hardcore and casual players alike to an unprecedented experience. A dynamic, action-based combat system combined with a clever auto-targeting function, a rewarding cross-server PvP system, and of course the numerous dragons you can tame, train, ride or fight alongside are just a handful of the many features the game will offer to all players.
Dragon’s Prophet has just entered its Family and Friends testing phase, and is scheduled to enter the Closed Beta phase in the coming weeks. While waiting for the gates to the game world to open wide before them, impatient players can start interacting in our brand-new Dragon’s Prophet forums. Here, future Auratians can already begin to discuss the game, as well as take part in small community events with a chance to gain a highly coveted access to the Closed Beta.
One of the first topics of discussion in the forums will definitely be a developer’s video where players will be able to learn more about the game directly from its creators. Classes, lair, graphic engine, music – this comprehensive video will shed some light on many aspects of the game which players will be curious about, and will thus provide a perfect introduction.
Obscure is unveiled today for the very first time, through a punchy video full of action, monsters, and hemoglobin!
Obscure for PC, PSN and Xbox LIVE is a pure, action-rich 2.5D side-scroller, drenched in the blood and caustic humor inspired by the teen and horror movie genres… a spirit that definitely shows through today’s video!
Playable alone and in cooperative mode (local & online), Obscure lets you play as one of four unlikely heroes; students, each with unique skills and abilities that develop throughout the adventure. Geared toward action and all-out brawling, Obscure’s combat emphasizes combos, follow-up attacks, and score-multipliers! Survive against packs of monsters trying to skin you alive, discover new weapons, and complete objectives throughout a variety of huge, non-linear levels. Overshooting the scores will earn you experience points to level your character up, unlocking new weapons, skills, and other devastating abilities! At any time, you can even get back to some of earlier levels to try your new toys and beat your scores!
Obscure rises to an entirely different scale in multiplayer. In cooperative mode, up to four players (local and online) team up to survive. Split up to fill your objectives as fast as possible, or stay together in a cohesive team to increase your chances of survival!
Video game veterans will certainly recognize the license, Obscure; the survival-horror game from Hydravision that terrorized over a million players in the middle of the last decade. Comprised of some of the original developers, Mighty Rocket Studio has been hard at work on this project for over a year.
Despite the completely different style of gameplay, Mighty Rocket Studio’s new game embraces its origins and incorporates many familiar elements of the survival-horror genre; sparse ammunition, limited supplies of health kits, and the oppressive feeling of constant danger in a universe where gruesome creatures may suddenly appear out of nowhere! Obscure fans will feel right at home, and will even get to visit the famous Leafmore High School and meet some of the previous characters from the series.
Obscure will release on PC, PSN and Xbox LIVE in spring 2013!

Since early 2000, the Sherlock Holmes series of six video games for PC captivated millions of players around the world. In 2012, the famous detective’s latest investigation–The Testament of Sherlock Holmes–abandoned the traditional point & click gameplay and, in a revolution for the series, created a genuine third-person gaming experience befitting consoles and PCS. The title earned praise from players and critics despite some minor technical glitches and brought the famous detective to a wider audience.
The new Sherlock Holmes game Crimes and Punishments will build upon that success with important changes on the graphical side as well as the game experience side.
For the first time ever, Frogwares Studio will abandon their homemade graphics engine. The latest adventures of Sherlock Holmes will be developed on Epic’s Unreal Engine 3, allowing the series to jump far ahead of previous installments in graphical quality. Environments will be more realistic and finely detailed with dynamic lighting and shadows. Choosing this engine also lets the game benefit from many technologies like a powerful animation engine for smooth movement and animation transitions, real-time shaders and a particle system, and advanced post-processing effects.
Unlike the previous adventures of Sherlock Holmes, in Crimes and Punishments you will not be a mere spectator during the detective’s investigation. It is now your turn to truly become Sherlock Holmes and lead your own investigation–actually, your investigations, as 8 captivating cases await you! Murders, disappearances, spectacular thefts, and other investigations will bring you to the cutting edge of the detective genre and these cases will be the bread and butter of this game, written in the pure tradition of Conan Doyle’s novels. Each case offers real freedom to players, who will have to make important moral choices instead of simply enforcing justice by the book. All decisions have an influence in the game and affect your character’s reputation in addition to having realistic, sometimes unexpected, consequences. You will have to bear the weight of your choices, as Crimes and Punishments offers an exciting system of actions/consequences that forces players to think before acting by giving true depth to every decision they make.
In Crimes and Punishments, players will embody a Sherlock Holmes with a brand new look. Developers at Frogwares have abandoned the classic Sherlock Holmes inspired by the 60s Sherlock movies, replacing him with a more modern character perfectly matching the new artistic ambitions of the title.
